President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the facilities established at the Aghdam Olive enterprise on November 7.
Ruslan Sadikhov, director of Aqroinkishaf 2017 LLC, briefed the head of state on the enterprise’s operations, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
The company began preparing and grading land for cultivation in the Aghdam area, liberated from occupation, in December 2020, after fields had been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance. Grain was initially planted in the area, with yields reaching 40 centners per hectare.
An olive grove now covers 1,150 hectares, with more than 700,000 trees planted. The number of olive and almond trees is planned to reach 1.5 million in the future.
The enterprise plans to produce 10,000 tonnes of olives, or 2,000 tonnes of oil, annually. Modern agricultural machinery is used in production.
Temporary irrigation canals have been built as part of the project, and the 3,690-metre Eyvazkhanbayli-Khachinchay road has been repaired. Administrative and technical areas have also been established. A forest has been planted across 10 hectares, with another 50 hectares planned. A fuel station and a meteorological station have been set up at the site.
The head of state was also briefed on Azerbaijan’s walnut industry. Since 2017, Aqroinkishaf 2017 LLC has been nearing completion of modern intensive walnut orchards spanning more than 2,000 hectares in the Shaki and Oghuz districts. The project aims to replace walnut imports and establish an export-oriented industry.
President Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation stone for a walnut washing, drying, sorting and packaging plant in the Oghuz district in 2022. In 2025, the company purchased and commissioned equipment for the facility with an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes of walnuts.
Harvested walnuts have been sold mainly on the domestic market and also exported to Turkey, Georgia, Russia and Italy. Modern intensive almond orchards are being planted across nearly 1,000 hectares.
The enterprise is equipped with modern agricultural machinery, a drip irrigation system, meteorological stations, a phytosanitary laboratory and other necessary equipment.
President Ilham Aliyev was also given a detailed briefing on work under the Acinohur Olive Valley project.
At the end of the visit, President Ilham Aliyev planted an olive tree at the site.
