Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has sent Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev a letter congratulating him on Victory Day.
The letter said, according to Operative Information Center-OMM:
“Mr. President, my dear brother,
On the sixth anniversary of Victory Day, which marked the liberation of ancient Azerbaijani lands that had been under occupation for 30 years, I extend my sincerest congratulations, on behalf of my people and myself, to Your Excellency and all my Azerbaijani brothers and sisters.
Azerbaijan’s just struggle, crowned with a great victory, has become a source of pride for the entire Turkic world. The rapid progress in rebuilding and revitalizing the liberated territories fills us all with pride.
Drawing strength from our unwavering bonds of friendship and brotherhood, based on the principle of “one nation, two states” and elevated to the highest level by the Shusha Declaration, I am fully confident that we will continue to work in close cooperation and solidarity, both in our bilateral relations and on the international stage.
Thanks to our coordinated efforts to establish lasting peace, security and stability in our region, the South Caucasus is now seen not as a region of conflict and instability, but as one of cooperation and development.
I pray to God to have mercy on our heroic martyrs who gave their lives in the struggle for their homeland’s independence. I remember them with respect and reverence, and express my gratitude to our veterans.
My dear brother, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you good health and happiness, and the brotherly Azerbaijani people a prosperous and peaceful future. Please accept my sincerest wishes.”
