A theft incident involving a significant sum of money has been reported in the Narimanov district of Baku.
According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the victim filed a formal complaint with the police, reporting that $5,000 in cash had been stolen from their jacket pocket under unknown circumstances.
Following an investigation by police officers, a 35-year-old individual with a prior criminal record was identified and apprehended as the primary suspect. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect targeted the victim at a local restaurant, where they surreptitiously removed the cash from the jacket while it was hanging in a locker.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to conduct investigations into the incident. Such crimes are typically prosecuted under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which mandates strict penalties for theft and misappropriation of property. Law enforcement agencies in the capital frequently utilize surveillance footage and forensic evidence to track and apprehend suspects involved in property crimes, ensuring public safety and the protection of private assets.
