Pashinyan's party leads in Armenian parliamentary elections

In the ongoing parliamentary elections in Armenia, officials have processed 90% of the ballots cast. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Central Election Commission of Armenia has released the latest preliminary data.

The reports indicate that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's "Civil Contract" party has secured 50.25% of the vote. Meanwhile, the "Strong Armenia" bloc, led by businessman Samvel Karapetyan, has garnered 23.31%. The "Armenia" bloc, led by former president Robert Kocharyan, currently sits in third place with 9.78% of the vote, followed by Gagik Tsarukyan's "Prosperous Armenia" party with 4.2%.

Consequently, the opposition currently holds a combined 36.88% of the total votes counted. Election officials have completed the tally in 1,199 out of the country's 2,005 polling stations. It should be noted that the electoral threshold for parties is set at 4%, while the threshold for electoral blocs is 8%.

The parliamentary elections in Armenia are a critical event for the country's political landscape, determining the composition of the National Assembly and the future direction of the government. These elections follow a period of significant political volatility in the region, with international observers closely monitoring the process to ensure transparency and adherence to democratic standards.
