Real Madrid faced Barcelona away in the 10th round of the Spanish league and won 2-1 in El Clasico. Kylian Mbappe scored both goals for the winning side.
Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho criticized VAR after the match. At a press conference, he praised the officials’ overall performance but said VAR had failed to intervene in an incident in the 60th minute.
“The referee did an excellent job, but VAR was asleep in the 60th minute. A clear red card should have been shown for Cancelo’s foul on Diomande,” Mourinho said.
Mourinho’s complaint concerned the failure to show a red card for Barcelona defender Cancelo’s challenge on Diomande. Real Madrid ended the away match with a 2-1 victory.
