A mine explosion occurred in the Papravand village area of the liberated Aghdara district on September 10, 2026.

"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that the press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) issued a joint statement.

Sarkhan Bakhtiyar oghlu Rustamzade, a 2005-born resident of Tartar district, was riding a horse through an area that had not been cleared of mines when the animal stepped on an anti-personnel mine. Rustamzade sustained minor injuries in the incident.

ANAMA personnel evacuated the citizen from the hazardous area.

The Tartar District Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the incident.

ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office once again urged citizens to follow safety rules, pay close attention to mine hazard signs, avoid touching suspicious objects, stay out of unfamiliar areas and refrain from entering areas where fencing work is under way.

Mine contamination remains a serious safety risk in areas affected by the conflict, and authorities regularly warn residents and visitors not to enter uncleared territory.
