US first lady Melania Trump said a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia had been expanded beyond the Russian-controlled Ukrainian city of Oleshky in the Kherson region, Anadolu Agency reported.
Trump said the timing had been brought forward by two days to protect civilians and help deliver critical humanitarian aid.
“The ceasefire’s geographic area has expanded beyond Oleshky, within the Kherson Region, to provide safe passage for the humanitarian convoys,” she said on “X”.
The ceasefire in Oleshky took effect at 0100 GMT on Tuesday to facilitate humanitarian aid deliveries and civilian evacuations.
