Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is playing against Atletico Madrid in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League league phase. It is the German goalkeeper’s 164th appearance in the competition, moving him into third place on the all-time list.

Neuer had previously shared third place on the list with Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller, with all three having made 163 appearances. Cristiano Ronaldo, with 183 matches, and Iker Casillas, with 177, are ahead of the Bayern goalkeeper.
Bayern collected five points in the first three rounds of the competition and sit 15th in the league-phase table. Atletico Madrid are 17th with four points.
