Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has become the youngest player in UEFA Champions League history to reach 60 appearances. The Englishman set the record on November 4 in an away match against Greece’s AEK. The league-phase matchday-four fixture against the Athens side ended in a 3-2 win for Real Madrid. Bellingham, who started the match, made his 60th appearance in the competition’s main phase. He was 23 years and 128 days old at the time.
According to UEFA’s website, the previous record belonged to former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas. The Spanish goalkeeper made his 60th Champions League appearance on November 3, 2004, aged 23 years and 167 days. Bellingham improved on the record by 39 days.
Koita opened the scoring against AEK in the 12th minute, and Bellingham equalised in the 32nd. Pilios put the hosts back in front in the 75th minute, before Kylian Mbappe levelled the score three minutes later. Federico Valverde scored Real Madrid’s winning goal in the second minute of stoppage time. Koita was sent off in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Bellingham has set an age-related Champions League record for the second consecutive season. On November 4, 2025, aged 22 years and 128 days, he made his 50th appearance in the competition, surpassing Casillas’ previous record. Before joining Real Madrid, the Englishman played for Borussia Dortmund.
