Real Madrid beat RB Leipzig 4-1 in the third round of the Champions League league phase. The match was played in Madrid on October 21 and kicked off at 10 p.m. Moscow time.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 44th minute, and Arda Guler doubled the lead in the 52nd. Kylian Mbappe scored Real Madrid’s third goal in the 83rd minute. Gomis pulled one back for RB Leipzig two minutes later, and Diomande made it 4-1 in the 87th minute.
Jose Mourinho said he was pleased with the result and praised Bernardo Silva’s performance after a lengthy spell without playing. He said Real Madrid had played well in the first half, but the match lacked pace. Once the team increased the tempo, the game took a different course.
Mourinho’s only disappointment was the goal conceded. He said Thibaut Courtois did not deserve to concede after making several outstanding saves. Real Madrid are fourth in the standings with nine points after three rounds, while RB Leipzig are 30th with three points.
