Three Palestinians were killed and several others wounded on Sunday in an Israeli drone strike on a tent in southern Gaza, medical sources said, despite a ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025.
The casualties were taken to Nasser Hospital after the strike near the facility in the al-Buraq area of Khan Younis. Witnesses told Anadolu Agency that an Israeli drone fired at least one missile at the tent, which was being used as a mobile phone charging point.
Separately, Jihad Iyad al-Ghandour, 6, died at al-Shifa Hospital from serious injuries sustained on Saturday, when Israeli soldiers opened fire in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, a medical source said.
Israeli forces also expanded their area of control in eastern Gaza City early on Sunday, injuring two Palestinians, including a pregnant woman, and forcing dozens of families to leave their homes, local Palestinian sources told Anadolu Agency.
The sources said military vehicles moved tens of metres beyond their existing positions in the Shujaiya neighborhood overnight from Saturday into Sunday, amid heavy gunfire and artillery shelling. They said armed Palestinian militias cooperating with and supported by the Israeli army accompanied the troops, while quadcopter drones provided cover.
Israeli forces fired toward an area stretching from the vegetable market in the east to the Shujaiya intersection on Salah al-Din Street in the west, the sources added.
For about a week, eastern parts of Gaza, particularly the Tuffah and Shujaiya neighborhoods, have seen nighttime demolitions, gunfire, heavy artillery fire and military vehicle movements near the “yellow line,” according to the sources. The line separates areas occupied by Israeli forces in the east from areas where Palestinians are permitted to remain in the west.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said Israeli ceasefire violations had killed 1,488 Palestinians and injured 5,281 as of Sunday. Since the war began in October 2023, more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 175,000 injured, while about 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed, the ministry said.
