The Israeli army said Friday that two soldiers were killed and three seriously wounded in a shooting in Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, Anadolu Agency reported.
Three other soldiers were moderately wounded, according to the army.
Hours earlier, two Palestinians were killed in a shootout with Israeli forces after allegations that they had opened fire on Israeli occupiers in Hebron, wounding five.
Following the reported shooting, the Israeli army announced a full closure of Hebron and several surrounding towns.
The occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has seen an escalation in Israeli military operations and attacks by occupiers since Israel launched its war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
The attacks have included the killing and arrest of Palestinians, demolition of homes and other structures, the burning of mosques and vehicles, destruction of agricultural land, preventing farmers from accessing their fields, and displacement of Palestinian communities, alongside illegal settlement expansion.
