Israel has agreed to allow international security forces into the Gaza Strip as part of a ceasefire plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, according to Israeli officials.
The "Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that the decision was finalized ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington. The mission, dubbed the "International Stabilization Force," is expected to consist of approximately 200 personnel.
The contingent is slated to include troops from partner nations such as Uganda and Morocco, with operations restricted to areas outside direct Israeli military control. Each participating nation must secure specific authorization from Israel to enter the territory. While the security cabinet approved the legal framework for this deployment on Sunday, a start date for the mission remains unannounced.
This initiative is a component of a broader strategy championed by US President Donald Trump. The comprehensive plan aims to expand humanitarian aid, establish civil administration by Palestinian technocrats, facilitate the disarmament of Hamas, and oversee the withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces from the region. However, significant challenges persist, including Hamas's refusal to disarm and the current logistical difficulties in establishing a functional Palestinian governance structure within Gaza.
