Iranian official Mohammad Mohibbi has made notable statements about negotiations and the country’s military capabilities amid ongoing military and political tensions with the United States.

Mohibbi said diplomatic negotiations become an integral part of the struggle when Iran’s national interests require them. “Negotiations do not mean reconciliation or peace; they are another phase of war,” he said.
He stressed that war is not limited to armed clashes on the battlefield and encompasses various spheres. According to the official, diplomacy is a form of military struggle conducted through words, arguments and legal means. Mohibbi said Tehran was prepared for long-term war scenarios, while noting that this did not completely rule out the negotiating table.
The Iranian official said the country had a sufficient technological base to produce longer-range, high-precision missiles with greater destructive power. He said the production and deployment of such weapons depended solely on a political decision.
“In any confrontation, Iran will deploy weapons with new ranges, precision and destructive power on the battlefield. The battlefield itself is the most suitable place to test these weapons,” Mohibbi added.
He also claimed that one of the new-generation missiles had been used against a US aircraft carrier. According to Mohibbi, the target was hit from a distance of 500 kilometers and the vessel was damaged.
Speaking about the security situation in and around the Strait of Hormuz, Mohibbi said Iran had taken a new step in response to the US naval blockade. He said a decision had been made to establish a special “restricted zone” beyond the Strait of Hormuz, beginning around the port of Chabahar and covering routes in the Gulf of Oman.
The Iranian official said an official statement on the implementation of the decision and its exact coordinates would be issued soon.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime passage linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. It is a major route for global energy shipments, making developments in the area significant for regional and international security.
