At least five people were killed and 10 others injured in a shooting in the historic centre of Krakow, southern Poland, on Saturday, according to Polish media reports cited by Anadolu Agency.
The shooting happened shortly after 3 p.m. local time (1400 GMT), near the city’s Main Market Square, one of Poland’s busiest tourist destinations.
Polish broadcaster “TVN24” reported the casualty figures, citing the fire brigade. Radio station “RMF FM” said attackers travelling in a vehicle along Slawkowska Street towards the square opened fire on people in the area.
A shop and a tram were damaged, “TVN24” reported. Emergency services responded, and an air ambulance helicopter landed in the square.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said police were investigating the shooting and that he was receiving updates from the Interior Ministry.
Police have not confirmed the attackers’ identities or their motive. The circumstances are under investigation.
