About eight US F-15 fighter jets were damaged when Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on the US Muvaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan overnight from Sept. 8 to Sept. 9.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that, according to CBS News, which cited sources familiar with the matter, the damage to the aircraft was not extensive, but they had to be sent for maintenance.

The sources also said that the wing of an A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft, known as the “Warthog,” was broken. No US service members were killed in the incident, according to the report.

Muvaffaq Salti Air Base is a key US military facility in Jordan. The F-15 Eagle is a twin-engine fighter aircraft used by the US Air Force for air superiority and strike missions, while the A-10 Thunderbolt II is designed primarily to provide close air support.
