“Russian forces fired five ballistic missiles at civilian infrastructure in Kyiv last evening, but Ukraine received no advance warning of the attacks from its partner countries.”
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made the statement.
“Intelligence about the launch of Russian ballistic missiles helps save lives and is one of the most critical issues. A warning about a ballistic missile attack helps prevent people from being killed,” Zelensky said.
He also said Ukraine had not struck Russian oil refineries or energy infrastructure since U.S. President Donald Trump announced on October 11 that the energy truce had ended.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president said Russia continued to attack Ukraine’s energy facilities.
“Our position remains unchanged. Ukraine is ready to take reciprocal steps to de-escalate. But this requires effective pressure on Russia. Wars end when aggressors realize they can no longer prolong the conflict,” he added.
Zelensky also said Russian strikes overnight had destroyed a residential building, killing four people and injuring 41.
Ballistic missiles are designed to travel on a high, arcing trajectory before descending toward their targets. Advance warnings can give civilians time to seek shelter, while information about launches can also help authorities assess threats and coordinate emergency responses.
