Ilham Aliyev receives Muslim Council of Elders secretary-general

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Mohamed Abdelsalam on September 14.

"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that the meeting recalled with satisfaction the previous meetings between President Ilham Aliyev and Mohamed Abdelsalam.

The sides noted successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Muslim Council of Elders. They also discussed Azerbaijan’s important role at the global level in strengthening Islamic solidarity. In this regard, they highlighted the significance of the seventh meeting of the Muslim religious leaders of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Baku, as well as the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan next year. The meeting also noted that religious relations are regulated at a high level in Azerbaijan.

The conversation also recalled that the Azerbaijani president was awarded the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity earlier this year. The guest presented the award certificate to the head of state.
