Goztepe beat Fenerbahce 2-1 away in the 10th round of the Turkish Super Lig. Matteo Guendouzi put the home side ahead in first-half stoppage time.
Goztepe equalised in the second half through Armstrong in the 76th minute. Two minutes later, Henrique scored from a corner to secure the visitors’ win. Kerem Akturkoglu’s shot in the 71st minute struck the post.
Fenerbahce have 16 points from 10 matches and are nine points behind leaders Galatasaray. The team have taken the lead against Genclerbirligi, Besiktas and Goztepe in the league, but lost all three matches 2-1. In the UEFA Champions League, they drew 2-2 with Slavia Prague after leading 2-0. The Istanbul side have conceded twice in each of their last three competitive matches: they drew with Slavia Prague and lost 2-1 to Galatasaray and Goztepe.
After Goztepe’s second goal, Fenerbahce fans called on the club’s management to resign. Fans had protested after Kerem Akturkoglu’s weak shot in the 52nd minute, and he responded with a gesture towards the stands. Romelu Lukaku called for support for his teammate. Kerem received backing after his 71st-minute effort, but was booed again when he was substituted in the 83rd minute.
Guendouzi has scored his second goal of the season; his first came in an 8-0 win over Eyupspor. Mert Mulder returned to action after 46 days. He last played against Gaziantep FK on September 14 and underwent surgery a week later. Mulder replaced Nelson Semedo in the 65th minute against Goztepe.
