Eight injured in maritime drone attack on Sochi

Eight people were injured in a maritime drone attack on Sochi, a city on Russia’s Black Sea coast, regional authorities said.

The attack also partially damaged beach infrastructure at the resort. Videos circulated showing gunfire and an explosion on the Sochi coastline. Reuters verified the authenticity of the footage.

Strikes on Ukrainian cities

Two people were injured in a Russian drone attack on Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine. One of them was reported to be in serious condition.

According to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih City Defense Council, the attacks damaged homes, businesses and educational buildings. Emergency response measures are currently under way in the area.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service also reported a drone strike on Khmelnytskyi, a city in the country’s west.

Sochi is a major Russian resort city on the Black Sea and has frequently been associated with tourism and coastal infrastructure. Kryvyi Rih, meanwhile, is a large industrial city in central Ukraine that has been targeted in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
