The death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck Venezuela has continued to rise, according to official reports.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Jorge Rodriguez, President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, announced the updated figures via his social media account.
According to the latest data, the number of fatalities resulting from the natural disaster has increased by 52, bringing the total death toll to 5,398. Furthermore, officials confirmed that the number of injured individuals has reached 16,740.
Search and rescue operations remain ongoing in the affected regions. Rodriguez stated that more than 60,000 personnel are currently involved in disaster relief and recovery efforts, including approximately 30,000 volunteers working on the ground.
Authorities emphasized that efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the affected population and restore critical infrastructure, particularly clean water supplies, are continuing without interruption. Venezuela, located in a seismically active region, frequently faces challenges related to natural disasters, necessitating robust emergency response frameworks.
