Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin has officially announced his resignation, citing ongoing health complications as the primary reason for his departure from office.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited international media reports, the president stated, "I am currently suffering from various health problems. I have nothing further to say."

Sources within the presidential administration indicate that Shahabuddin's resignation letter has been formally submitted to the parliament for processing. The resignation follows intense public scrutiny and allegations regarding a purported telephone conversation between Shahabuddin and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed, who fled the country earlier this year. These claims emerged following the president's visit to London in May.

Mohammed Shahabuddin, a former judge, assumed the presidency in April 2023. His resignation marks a significant development in the political landscape of Bangladesh, a nation currently navigating a period of transition and internal political instability. The presidency in Bangladesh is largely a ceremonial role, but the officeholder serves as a critical figurehead during times of national crisis.
