Police officers have seized 5 automatic weapons, 3 pistols, 1 grenade, 6 rifles, 2 magazines, and 100 rounds of ammunition of various calibers in Baku and several other regions of Azerbaijan over the past day.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
The Ministry reiterated the critical importance for citizens to voluntarily surrender illegally held firearms and ammunition to police authorities. Officials emphasized that unauthorized weapons pose severe risks, potentially leading to tragic accidents, serious crimes, and threats to human life. Citizens are urged to immediately report such items to the police to support the maintenance of public safety.
According to Azerbaijani legislation, individuals who voluntarily surrender illegally held firearms and ammunition to police authorities are exempt from criminal and administrative liability. This ongoing initiative is part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' broader strategy to reduce the circulation of illicit weapons, enhance public security, and prevent violent incidents across the country.
