As of July 1 of this year, the total assets of Azerbaijan's banking sector reached 60 billion 940.4 million manats.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), this figure represents a 7.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
Net loans issued to customers accounted for 29 billion 888 million manats of the banks' total assets. Over the past year, the sector's loan portfolio grew by 11.6%, while the share of loans in total assets rose from 47.2% to 49%.
During the reporting period, the banking sector's liabilities increased by 7% to 53 billion 294.8 million manats. Within this, the deposit portfolio grew by 6.4%, reaching 39 billion 743.7 million manats. Of this amount, 17 billion 428.5 million manats belong to individuals, while 22 billion 315.2 million manats are deposits from legal entities. Notably, household deposits in banks increased by 15.7% over the year, while corporate deposits saw a modest growth of 0.1%.
Furthermore, the banks' liabilities to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan decreased by approximately 20% over the last year, totaling 0.4 million manats. The sector's balance capital also showed positive momentum, rising by 10.1% to reach 7 billion 645.6 million manats.
The growth in banking assets reflects the ongoing stabilization and expansion of the financial sector in Azerbaijan, which plays a critical role in supporting the country's broader economic development and investment climate. A robust banking system is essential for maintaining macroeconomic stability and facilitating credit access for both businesses and the general population.
