The draw for the European Judo Champions League has been held, determining the first opponents for Azerbaijani athletes competing at the event in Paris on October 25.
Azerbaijan’s “Judo 2012” club will face France’s “Judo Nice Metropole” in the round of 16. The team includes Ibrahim Aliyev (73 kg), Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg), Subkhan Akhundov (+90 kg), Ulviyya Bayramova (57 kg), Aytaj Gardashkhanli (70 kg) and Diana Semchenko (+70 kg).
Olympic champions Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelim Kotsoev (+90 kg) will compete for Serbia’s “Crvena Zvezda” club. The Belgrade team received a bye in the opening round and will enter the competition in the quarterfinals.
Zelim Tskayev (90 kg) and Ushangi Kokauri (+90 kg) will represent France’s PSG. The Paris team will also begin its campaign in the quarterfinals.
Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg) and Murad Fatayev (90 kg) are on the roster of Russia’s “Judo Club Konar.” The club will face France’s “AM Saint-Gratien” in the round of 16.
Azerbaijani judokas will compete for medals in Europe’s leading club tournament as members of different teams.
