Azerbaijan women's national team falls to Hungary in home match

The Azerbaijan women's national football team has played its latest match in the qualifying round of the World Championship.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the national team, competing in Group 3 of League C, hosted Hungary. The match, held at the Mehdi Huseynzade Stadium in Sumgait, concluded with a 2-1 victory for the visiting side.

Khanim Asadova scored the lone goal for the Azerbaijani squad during the match.

Prior to this encounter, the national team had secured victories against Andorra (3-1 and 2-0) and North Macedonia (2-0), though they previously suffered a 0-1 defeat to Hungary in an away fixture.

Following five matches, the Azerbaijan national team currently holds second place in the group standings with 9 points. Hungary leads the group with 13 points. The UEFA Women's Nations League and qualifying tournaments serve as crucial platforms for developing women's football in Azerbaijan, providing the team with opportunities to compete against diverse European opponents and improve their international ranking.
