The Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has issued a formal appeal to drivers regarding the sharp increase in traffic volume on Azerbaijan's national highways during weekends. The department emphasized that the surge in vehicle numbers requires heightened attention to road safety protocols to prevent potential accidents.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the department highlighted that intensive traffic flows toward tourism and recreation zones often lead to higher accident risks. The Main State Traffic Police Department noted that haste, inattention, and failure to properly assess road conditions remain the primary causes of traffic incidents during these periods. Officials urged motorists to strictly follow regulations, particularly regarding speed limits and overtaking maneuvers.
While the Ministry of Internal Affairs has intensified control and preventive measures on major routes across Azerbaijan, officials emphasized that road safety ultimately depends on individual driver responsibility. In recent years, Azerbaijan has significantly modernized its road infrastructure and implemented stricter traffic regulations to reduce mortality rates on highways. Drivers are strongly advised to ensure their vehicles are in good technical condition, avoid driving while fatigued, and take regular breaks during long-distance journeys to ensure a safe environment for all road users.
