Fines are set to be revised for failing to provide telecommunications services in line with required quality standards.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that amendments to the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses have been proposed.
The draft was discussed at a meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building today.
Under the draft, telecommunications operators or providers that fail to meet quality indicators set by the relevant executive authority would face fines of 500 manats for officials and 1,000 manats for legal entities.
If a person who has already received an administrative penalty commits the same offense again within one year of the decision taking effect, officials would be fined 1,000 manats and legal entities 2,000 manats.
Under current legislation, the relevant provision is titled “violation of communication service rules.” The existing version imposes fines of 80 to 150 manats for violating communication service rules while conducting communication activities, including failing to comply with applicable standards, norms and rules.
