How will bus stations operate during the holidays?

In order to ensure the comfort of passengers on the eve of the Novruz and Ramadan holidays, all bus stations and bus terminals across the country will operate in an enhanced mode from March 19 to 30.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports this with reference to the Azerbaijan Surface Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

How will passenger density be managed?

According to the information, AYNA has given relevant instructions to passenger transport companies on intercity and inter-district routes to ensure continuous and safe movement. The main goal is to organize the legal sale of tickets from cash desks in accordance with tariffs and to prevent potential congestion during the holiday season.

Additionally, strict compliance with the approved schedules of bus movements will be kept under special control. At the Baku International Bus Terminal Complex (BBAK), attention will be paid to the intervals of buses released onto lines and drivers' compliance with safety rules according to passenger flow. To regulate density, the deployment of the necessary number of additional buses to the lines will be ensured.

How to obtain bus tickets online and quickly?

Citizens can obtain travel tickets online through the https://biletim.az/ portal, as well as from the official ticket offices of the bus stations.

Statistics and advantages of the Biletim.az portal

Currently, it is possible to purchase tickets for 58 points and 91 directions through the portal. A total of 403 vehicles covering 355 trips have been integrated into the digital system.

The online portal offers significant advantages in terms of saving time, increasing customer satisfaction, and expanding the turnover of cashless payments in Azerbaijan. Citizens are recommended to obtain tickets in advance via the biletim.az portal for a more comfortable and safe journey to their destinations.

Context and Significance

The Novruz holiday, marking the arrival of spring, and the religious holiday of Ramadan are among the most significant public holidays in Azerbaijan, typically resulting in a massive surge in domestic travel as citizens visit family in the regions. The transition to digital ticketing systems like Biletim.az is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to modernize transport infrastructure and enhance the digital economy. By implementing enhanced operating modes, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport aims to mitigate the logistical challenges posed by the high volume of travelers during these peak periods.
