Murad Garib oglu Fetiyev, who had been wanted internationally since 2025, has been brought to Azerbaijan and placed under investigation following ongoing operational-search measures by the State Security Service.
The State Security Service provided the information to “Operative Information Center-OMM”, which reports it.
According to the information, investigators determined that, acting on instructions from radical centers directed from abroad, Fetiyev created various groups on social media with the aim of undermining Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and inciting national hatred and enmity. He recruited into these groups representatives of an ethnic minority living abroad and in Azerbaijan who promoted extremist ideas.
He also organized the selection of individuals among them who stood out for their radical views, the gathering of information about important strategic facilities in Azerbaijan, and open calls for terrorism.
Some members of the criminal group were previously arrested and held criminally liable for preparing to attack a state enterprise and take people hostage, with the aim of weakening Azerbaijan’s defense capability and economic security.
The court hearing has begun in the criminal case against Fetiyev, who is charged under Article 214-2 of the Criminal Code (public calls for terrorism), Article 283-1 (incitement of national, racial, social or religious hatred and enmity) and other provisions.
