Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has responded to acting US Secretary of the Navy Hung Kao’s acknowledgment that the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain suffered serious damage.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Araghchi responded in a social media post to Kao’s statement that Iran had “laid to waste” the US base in Bahrain.
The Iranian minister said they appreciated the US official’s candor.
“Our powerful armed forces truly turned the headquarters of the Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, as well as other bases supporting US aggression, into hell. The American people deserve better than paying the price for Israel’s wars,” Araghchi said.
Acting US Secretary of the Navy Hung Kao told The Epoch Times in an interview that Iranian attacks had “laid to waste” the US naval base in Bahrain.
The US Fifth Fleet is headquartered in Bahrain and supports American naval operations in the Middle East. Bahrain hosts the facility as part of longstanding security cooperation with the United States.
