All 54 members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) support Gianni Infantino’s candidacy in the upcoming FIFA presidential election, CAF President Patrice Motsepe has said.
Motsepe made the remarks on October 8, the second day of CAF’s strategic conference in Cape Verde. FIFA President Infantino also attended the event.
The CAF chief said Infantino’s contribution to the development of African football had helped shape the decision. He said all 54 member countries shared the position.
Infantino had previously proposed selling some of the broadcasting rights for the World Cup to private investors. The proposal was withdrawn after facing widespread criticism.
Infantino has served as FIFA president since 2016 and is seeking re-election in the upcoming vote. FIFA, the international governing body for football, elects its president through a vote by member associations.
