Heavy rain and possible flooding forecast in Baku on October 9-10

Heavy rain is expected in some parts of Azerbaijan on October 9.

The National Hydrometeorology Service provided the information to the Operative Information Center-OMM.

Rain is expected intermittently in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula from daytime on October 9 until the evening of October 10. Some areas may see torrential rain and thunderstorms, with intense and heavy rain possible from the evening of October 9 through the morning of October 10.

Weather conditions in Azerbaijan’s regions are expected to be unstable, with intermittent precipitation from daytime on October 9 until the evening of October 10. Some areas may experience intense downpours, thunderstorms and hail, while snow is possible in mountainous areas. Precipitation may intensify briefly in some eastern districts during the day on October 10.

Rain is expected to raise water levels in rivers. Short-term flooding and mudflows cannot be ruled out on some rivers in the Greater and Lesser Caucasus, the Lankaran-Astara region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
