The execution of former US Army Major Nidal Hasan by firing squad will be livestreamed, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said.
A US Defence Department official told the BBC that Hasan’s execution would be broadcast live. Hasan fatally shot 13 unarmed US soldiers at Fort Hood in 2009.
“We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it’s public,” Hegseth said on Thursday. “Because people need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things.”
The Pentagon announced earlier this week that Hasan would be executed, in what would be the first US military execution in more than 60 years.
