Biography

Maleyka Mehdi gizi Abbaszade (Mustafayeva) was born in 1953 in Baku into a family of employees.

In 1975, she was appointed senior laboratory assistant at the Institute of Cybernetics of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. From 1975 to 1977, she worked in Moscow as a research trainee in the department of Academician N. N. Moiseyev at the Computing Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and from 1977 to 1987 as a research fellow at the Institute of Cybernetics. From 1987 to 1989, she was head of the Department of Methods of Teaching Computing Technology and Informatics at the Baku Institute for Teachers’ Professional Development, and from 1989 she worked as a leading research fellow at the M. Azizbeyov Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry. From 1990 to August 1994, she was First Deputy Chairperson of the Azerbaijan “Istedad” Association.

From 1994 to 2000, she was First Deputy Chairperson of the State Student Admission Commission, and from 2000 to 2016, its chairperson. On 12 April 2016, by presidential order, she was appointed chairperson of the newly established State Examination Center, and on 23 July 2024, Chairperson of the Board of the Center.

In 2008, she was elected a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA). She is the author of nearly 60 scientific articles and two textbooks for higher education institutions. In 2013, she was awarded the “Shohrat” Order, and in 2023, the “Sharaf” Order. She has two children and five grandchildren.
