Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree imposing a 10-year sanctions package against 16 Belarusian citizens, including the sons of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Armenpress, that the restrictive measures target Viktor and Dmitry Lukashenko, as well as the Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces, Pavel Muraveyko.

According to the official decree published on the Ukrainian presidency's website, the sanctions include 16 different restrictive measures such as the freezing of assets, limitations on economic and financial operations, cancellation of official visits, bans on commercial activities, and the revocation of state awards. Belarusian MP Oleg Gaidukevich criticized the decision, describing the sanctions against Lukashenko’s family members as a "low move."

Relations between Ukraine and Belarus have remained severely strained since the onset of the conflict in Ukraine, as Kyiv and its Western allies have frequently accused Minsk of providing logistical and political support to Russia. These new sanctions align with Ukraine's broader strategy of targeting individuals and entities perceived as supporting the current Belarusian administration's policies. Similar restrictive measures have been previously implemented by the European Union and the United States to pressure the Belarusian leadership over regional security concerns.
