The Council of the European Union today imposed sanctions on 10 individuals and 17 entities over activities that violate or threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence.

The sanctions target individuals and legal entities involved in the systematic and unlawful deportation and forced transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia, as well as their forced assimilation in temporarily occupied territories.
The EU said the activities also involved ideological indoctrination of children and their recruitment into paramilitary training.
The sanctions list includes the Moscow City Tourism Committee, several children’s and sports camps operating in Russia, and the Songdowon International Children’s Camp in North Korea.
According to information from the Council of the EU, Ukrainian children were taken to these camps in Russia and North Korea, where they were subjected to pro-Russian propaganda.
The sanctions also apply to Rustam Minnikhanov, president of the Republic of Tatarstan. He is accused of helping Ukrainian children be unlawfully taken to camps in the region under his control.
Under the EU decision, the assets of the sanctioned individuals and legal entities have been frozen. EU citizens and companies are prohibited from providing them with funds, financial assets or economic resources.
In addition, the sanctioned individuals are barred from entering or transiting through EU territory.
