Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso said he would celebrate his team’s goals in their League Cup round-of-16 match against Liverpool. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28.
Alonso played for Liverpool during his football career. He said he still had great affection for his former club, but that he now had a different role and had to support his own team.
“Of course I’ll celebrate; that’s certain. When I played for Liverpool, I had great affection for the club. But now I’m in a different role, and I have to support my team.
I’m on my club’s side and I’m fighting for it. If we score, I’ll celebrate while showing Liverpool every respect,” Alonso told the Daily Mail.
The Liverpool-Chelsea match will kick off at 11 p.m. Moscow time, which is midnight on October 29 in Baku.
