Villarreal sets record for biggest home loss by Spanish club

Villarreal have suffered the biggest home defeat by a Spanish club in Champions League history, MisterChip reported.

The Spanish club lost 6-0 to PSG at home on November 3 in the fourth round of the competition’s league phase. The previous record belonged to Deportivo, who lost 5-0 at home to Monaco on December 8, 2004.

Villarreal also equalled the record for the heaviest defeat by a Spanish club in a single Champions League match. In August 2020, Barcelona lost 8-2 to Bayern Munich in a neutral-venue quarter-final in Lisbon.
