The United Nations (UN) Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran has presented a new comprehensive report prepared for the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights press service provided the information.

According to the report, Iranian civilians have suffered severe harm both from serious human rights violations and crimes against humanity allegedly committed by authorities in Tehran and from airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory. The commission said Iranian security forces used lethal force during mass protests in 2025–2026, cut internet access and executed 29 people in connection with the demonstrations between March and August.

The UN commission also investigated airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel on February 28, which reportedly killed at least 178 civilians, including women and children. It said there was credible evidence that Washington had committed war crimes. The international body called on all parties to immediately end human rights violations and provide reparations to victims.

The UN Human Rights Council’s fact-finding mechanisms examine alleged violations, document evidence and make recommendations aimed at accountability and preventing further abuses. Their findings do not replace judicial proceedings but may contribute to future investigations by competent national or international bodies.
