Russia’s Federal Security Service has detained two people suspected of preparing, on the instructions of Ukraine’s Security Service, a drone attack on a key missile defense facility in Moscow and energy infrastructure.
Foreign media reported the case, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
The two suspects, born in 1991 and 1998 and of South Caucasus origin, were allegedly supposed to retrieve combat drones from hidden locations and transport them to the Moscow region for launch.
The drones were then reportedly to be controlled remotely from Ukrainian territory.
The suspects were detained during the preparation stage, before the attacks were carried out, according to the report.
One of the detainees was allegedly recruited by an employee of Ukraine’s Security Service. After being promised a financial reward, the suspect traveled to Russia to prepare sabotage and a terrorist operation. He later recruited an acquaintance, the report said.
Criminal proceedings have been opened against the detainees on charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. A court ordered them held in custody.
Investigative and operational measures are continuing to establish all the circumstances of the incident, the suspects’ alleged illegal activities and their possible connections, the report said.
