Talks on Ukraine in Oslo, Norway, attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky, were productive and made progress.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing Russian media, that US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.
He said preliminary conditions were in place for achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine. Witkoff also said he had brought documents to Russia outlining approaches to a settlement in Ukraine.
In addition, Witkoff thanked Putin on behalf of President Trump for the decision concerning the “diesel deal.”
The Russian president said Trump had stressed during recent talks the need to end the conflict in Ukraine to prevent further loss of life.
