At least two people were killed as Russia and Ukraine renewed accusations that the other side carried out overnight airstrikes, Anadolu Agency reported.

The Russian-installed management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant said Tuesday evening that a Ukrainian drone struck a moving “civilian vehicle”, killing two people. One was a plant employee, it said.

“This is the third plant employee to be killed in the last two weeks, and the 13th since April of this year,” the statement said. It called the strike “deliberate terrorism” and expressed condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones.

Drone damage reported in Russia

Murat Kumbilov, head of the Russian Republic of Adygea, said on Telegram that a drone attack caused a fire at a logistics centre belonging to Russian online retailer “Ozon” in the town of Adygeysk. He said there were no reports of injuries or deaths, while debris damaged a gas pipeline and the windows of a private home in the settlement of Petrov.

“Ozon” confirmed the attack on its Adygeysk facilities and said all workers had been promptly evacuated from the centre, where a fire broke out.

Ukraine has stepped up drone strikes against Russian logistics facilities in a campaign that began in July and has spread across several Russian regions. Since July, Ukrainian drones have targeted logistics centres belonging to Russia’s largest e-commerce retailer, “Wildberries”, in multiple regions; strikes on “Ozon” facilities began in August.

Kyiv has alleged that both retailers are involved in Russia’s military supply chain. Moscow and the companies say the facilities are commercial.

Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed its air defences had downed 709 Ukrainian drones over 14 regions, as well as over the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and Crimea, which Moscow illegally annexed in 2014.

The ministry also said Russia continued drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and maritime vessels. It claimed strikes hit electrical substations in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions and a dry-cargo ship “carrying military supplies” about 8 kilometres (5 miles) southwest of the coastal city of Odesa.

Ukraine reports damage and casualties

In Kyiv, local authorities said debris fell in an open area near a private house in the capital’s Desnianskyi district. “Information regarding damage and casualties is being clarified,” they said.

Dnipropetrovsk Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said two people were injured in a Russian drone strike on an enterprise in the regional capital. Both were hospitalised in moderate condition.

Ternopil Governor Taras Pastukh said a drone attack damaged an energy infrastructure facility in the region’s Ternopil district. Relevant services had been sent to the scene, he said.

Ukraine’s Air Force claimed it shot down 272 of the 310 drones Russia launched overnight.

Independent verification of claims by both sides is difficult because the war is ongoing.
