A foreign cargo ship named "TEDY", which had Azerbaijani citizens among its crew, came under drone attack in the Black Sea on Sept. 9.

Operative Information Center-OMM reported that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the statement.

According to the information received, Azerbaijani citizens Aslan Aliyev and Asim Gasimov were killed in the attack, while Imran Novruzov and Rauf Aliyev were injured. The injured citizens have been admitted to a hospital in the Ukrainian city of Chornomorsk:

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently coordinating the matter with Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions and the competent authorities of the relevant countries. Measures are being taken to repatriate the injured citizens after their medical examinations and treatment, provide the necessary consular support, and carry out procedures related to the deceased."

The MFA once again urged Azerbaijani citizens to refrain from traveling to areas where military operations are ongoing or the security situation is unstable, working in those areas, or serving on means of transport, including ships, operating along such routes.

The Black Sea is a major commercial shipping route connecting the countries of the region with global markets. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict has increased security risks for civilian vessels operating in and around the sea.
