An Azerbaijani national was killed in a drone strike carried out by Ukraine on Russian territory. The incident occurred in Russia’s Bryansk region.
The victim was identified as Huseyn Musaliyev, a resident of Bayat village in Azerbaijan’s Ujar district.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that his relatives spoke to Azerbaijan’s AzTV about the details of the incident.
How did the incident happen?
According to his relatives, Huseyn Musaliyev worked in Russia and was involved in cargo transportation and trade activities in the Moscow area.
They said Huseyn last visited Azerbaijan in January last year. During that trip, he bought a house in Baku and later went to his native village, where he met with relatives and friends.
One of his relatives said he spent those days with great joy:
“He bought a house in Baku, came here, bought a sheep and a goat, slaughtered them and made kebabs. He gathered his friends, acquaintances and relatives around him and celebrated happily.”
According to those close to him, Huseyn later returned to Russia and continued communicating with his family and relatives by phone.
He was injured during the drone strike
His relatives said Huseyn was in a car when the incident occurred. According to them, a drone strike hit the vehicle with shrapnel, seriously injuring him.
One of his relatives said Huseyn was taken to hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit because of the severity of his condition.
“When he was admitted to hospital, he was taken to intensive care because his condition was serious. After spending one, two or three days in hospital, the doctors informed us that his condition was not improving because he had suffered severe blood loss and that he had little time left.”
According to his relatives, Huseyn’s loved ones went to the hospital to see him. The family was later informed of his death.
“For three days, we have had neither night nor day”
People who knew Huseyn Musaliyev said he had always helped his native village and its residents.
One of his relatives described him as a kind person and said he had supported a number of projects in the village.
“He helped people who went from here to work seasonally and did good deeds. He had irrigation channels dug in our village—water channels and whatever else was needed. He had stone laid in our cemetery and gravel spread on our roads so that people could live comfortably.”
His relatives said Huseyn’s death had shocked the villagers and his family.
He is reported to have had two minor children.
His body will be brought to Azerbaijan
According to information provided by his relatives, Huseyn Musaliyev’s body is expected to be brought to Azerbaijan.
His relatives said it was planned for his body to be brought to Azerbaijan on Sept. 25 and for him to be buried on Sept. 26.
One of his relatives said they had last spoken with Huseyn by phone about two months ago. At the time, he had said he planned to visit Azerbaijan again.
“He said, ‘God willing, I will come again. I will come in the autumn.’ But it was not meant to be; his body is coming instead.”
No additional official information was provided about whether other drone-related incidents occurred in Bryansk region at the time or the specific circumstances under which the strike took place.
