Foreign ministers from 11 nations, including Turkey, have issued a strong condemnation of recent Israeli airstrikes targeting the Abu al-Duhur airbase in northwestern Syria.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the joint statement issued by the ministers characterized Israel's actions as an "extremely dangerous escalation" of regional tensions.

The joint statement emphasized that these military actions constitute a gross violation of Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political unity. The document was signed by representatives from Turkey, Algeria, Indonesia, Palestine, Qatar, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mauritania, Pakistan, Somalia, and Saudi Arabia.

The ministers expressed deep concern over the persistent targeting of Syrian territory and infrastructure. They argued that such military operations severely undermine efforts aimed at restoring security in Syria, rebuilding national institutions, and addressing the humanitarian consequences of the long-standing conflict. The statement further warned that Israel's policies threaten regional peace and stability and demonstrate a disregard for the principles of the UN Charter.

The signatories called upon the international community to adopt a firm and principled stance against Israel's military actions. The joint statement outlined several key demands, including:

  • Implementation of concrete measures within the framework of international law and the UN Charter;
  • An immediate cessation of Israeli military violations;
  • Full compliance with the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement of Forces;
  • The withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories.

In conclusion, the ministers reaffirmed the necessity of respecting Syria's independence and territorial integrity, categorically rejecting any actions that contradict these fundamental principles.

The conflict in Syria, which began in 2011, remains one of the most complex geopolitical crises in the Middle East. The involvement of various regional and international actors has frequently led to diplomatic friction, with nations often utilizing joint statements to exert pressure and advocate for adherence to international legal norms regarding state sovereignty.
