US President Donald Trump has launched his own online platform, called “Trump TV,” in response to an embargo imposed by leading television networks.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media.
The channel began operating on Monday evening and broadcasts government briefings, official statements and archive material around the clock.
Its first broadcast featured archive footage of Trump’s speech at Mount Rushmore on July 3.
The move followed the exclusion of major media organizations, including NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox News, CNN, Politico and MS Now, from White House briefings.
On Saturday, White House security forces, acting on Donald Trump’s direct orders, barred representatives of those media organizations from entering the building.
In a message posted on his platform, President Trump attributed the decision to what he described as the outlets’ repeated dissemination of false and unfounded reports. He said it was unacceptable for false claims about the government to be made on a regular basis.
In response, major television networks halted their broadcasting operations at the White House. Three of the excluded media organizations also filed a lawsuit with a federal appeals court in Washington seeking the restoration of their access to the building.
The dispute highlights the continuing tensions between the US administration and major news organizations over access to official briefings and the coverage of government activities. Online platforms such as Trump TV provide governments and public figures with a direct channel to audiences, while raising broader questions about media access and independent reporting.
