Health insurance costs during martial law and states of emergency will be financed from the state budget.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the measure is included in a proposed amendment to the Law on Medical Insurance.

Under the amendment, if a shortage of funds arises in financing the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund’s expenses because demand for medical services rises sharply after martial law or a state of emergency is declared, or a social emergency regime is introduced, the relevant costs may be covered from the state budget.

When forecasting the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund’s revenues for the following year, its projected surplus at the end of the current year will be taken into account as a source of financing for expenses.
