The Ministry of Emergency Situations has launched a search and rescue operation following reports that a person drowned in the section of the Garabagh canal passing through the village of Mirzalibayli in the Barda district.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the ministry received an alert via its "112" hotline regarding the incident.

In response to the report, diver-rescuers from the State Service for Control over Small Vessels and Water Rescue of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were immediately deployed to the site. Search efforts are currently underway in the areas where the individual, identified as Rasul Bunnatov (born in 1967), is presumed to have drowned.

The Garabagh canal is a critical water infrastructure project in Azerbaijan, serving as a vital irrigation artery for the region's agricultural sector. The Ministry of Emergency Situations frequently conducts such search and rescue missions across the country's water bodies to ensure public safety and respond to aquatic emergencies.

Further updates regarding the search operation will be provided as they become available.
