Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a warning about potential threats in the southern cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha, Jizan and Najran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that foreign media outlets carried the information.
The warning urged residents of the cities to prepare for possible emergencies.
Citizens and residents in the region were instructed to follow emergency protocols to protect themselves and their property and to closely monitor instructions and warnings from the relevant authorities.
However, the statement provided no information about the nature or specific causes of the potential threat.
Saudi Arabia leads an Arab coalition conducting military operations against the Houthis in Yemen. In response, the Houthis have targeted border areas and southern provinces of the kingdom.
Military facilities and strategically important infrastructure in the region have come under attack from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ballistic missiles launched from Yemeni territory.
Khamis Mushait, Abha, Jizan and Najran are located in Saudi Arabia’s south and southwest, near the country’s border with Yemen. The area has previously faced security risks linked to the conflict in Yemen, making official civil defense alerts an important part of local emergency preparedness.
